5 Ways to Super Health on Super Bowl Sunday!

Super Bowl Sunday is a lot of fun. The problem is, many people over-indulge on this day at their health’s expense. Heavy snacking while parked on the couch for hours can deteriorate your body, unless of course, you stick to these 5 easy plays:Pass on the GMO (Genetically Modified) Snacks
If you plan on serving tortilla chips consider spending a little extra to buy organic. Many popular snacks contain genetically modified (GMO) corn and other foods that have been linked to cancer.  They may taste great, but the long-term health effects are not worth the penalty. My advice is to spend a bit more on organic.Use Veggies for your Safety Snack
Consider veggies a touchdown for appetite control and fat loss. Low in calories and high in fiber, they help you feel full longer. As a key strategy in weight management, research backs their anti-inflammatory properties. If you still think the taste falls flat, consider adding humus.Burst your Way through the Game
Quick bursts of exercise (burst training) throughout the game will tackle fat, even for hours afterwards. Squeezing in 30-90 seconds of pushups and squats at the end of each quarter helps blast those extra calories. Considering this is only a 5-minute commitment, battling the bulge is an easy interception. The best part is, this type of exercise does not take more than a few minutes to perform.Assume Your 3 Point Stance
Parking on the couch for hours on end is a bad play for your joint health. Occasional squatting, however, is a great defense for fighting joint stiffness and inactivity from sitting. This functional movement stretches your hips, knees and ankles, and gets the larger muscles of your legs working.Take a Time Out from Television
Super Bowl Sunday is a staple of American culture, but so is too much television! Frequently watching TV for prolonged periods has been linked to health risks, including heart disease, obesity, and type-2 diabetes. To avoid this health and wellness fumble, take a time-out from the tube after an hour. Limiting television viewing is good for the entire family too!Hopefully the Super Bowl will help you score a fun weekend. If you follow these tips, it will be a win for your health too – Enjoy!
